Types of submissions

Oral presentations

Word limit for Abstracts is 250 words. APA format, including citations but without list of references, is REQUIRED for all abstracts.

Maximum permitted length of title is 130 characters (including spaces).

Oral presentations (12+3 minutes) will be gathered into paper sessions of four to six speakers. The focus may be of theoretical, methodological, or applied interest.

Applied submissions should adopt a scientist-practitioner perspective, providing key references for the theoretical background underlying the applied program/intervention discussed. Oral presentations should at least include: objectives, theoretical background, design/approach/intervention, results and discussion.

The listed presenter has to be present during the session. Session chairs are chosen by the scientific committee and will take charge of time management during the session and will allow sufficient time for questions and discussion with the audience.

Slides Template will be made available on the Congress website. Please, note that the slides will have to be in PowerPoint or in pdf and bring them on a USB drive to the Slides Center, inside the Conference Venue.

We offer poster printing and delivery service so you can travel hands and worry free!

Individuals or groups of authors can present their scientific work in the form of a poster. No thematic restriction applies within the area of sport and exercise psychology. The poster will be allocated to one of the six poster sessions of 90 minutes. The first author is expected to be present during the whole duration of the poster session.

Poster abstracts discussing research should at least include: a short introduction, theoretical framework, a problem statement, brief description of methodology, results summary, and implications of the results. Scientific jargon must be kept to a minimum to ensure easiness of understanding from all participants. Poster abstracts presenting applied topics should be structured similarly: introduction, setting/intervention, theoretical background, applied implications, discussion.

The poster format will be A0 (118.9 cm / 46.8” height x 84.1 cm / 31.1” width). A well-designed poster catches the attention and gives the scientific work the recognition it deserves. Recommendations for the design will be made available on the Congress website.

Posters will have to be taken out at the end of the Conference Day in order to make space for the posters of the following day; otherwise, posters will be taken by the Organizing Secretariat and disposed of.

The symposia consist of oral presentations from multiple speakers and cover a specific coherent topic relating to Sport and Exercise Psychology. The focus may be of theoretical, methodological, or applied interest. The time allocation is up to a maximum of 75 – 90 minutes based on approx. 15 minutes per speaker or discussant plus 15 minutes Q&A.

Applied submissions should adopt a scientist-practitioner perspective, providing key references for the theoretical background underlying the applied program/Intervention discussed.

Each symposium should consist of three to four presenters, representing at least three different countries and including male and female presenters.

Submissions for symposia must be completed by the chair/convener of the symposium. Submissions must include a general abstract (description and significance of the topic, purpose of the symposium, and an overview of each presentation). Additionally, submissions must include an individual abstract for each presentation. Please upload the abstracts in the order you are planning to present within the symposium.

All listed presenters have to be present during their symposium. Symposia chairs are expected to take charge of time management during the symposia and to allow sufficient time for questions and discussion with the audience.

*We recommend three presenters for the 75-minute symposium slot and three to four presenters for the 90-minute symposium.

Please note that the symposium Chair must upload an anonymized Word document containing all individual abstracts included in the symposium. The Word document must not include any identifying information (i.e., no author or co-author names, affiliations, or other identifying details) within the abstracts.

In addition, in the “Presenting Authors” section of the submission form, please list each contributor who will present during the symposium (i.e., include every person who will deliver a presentation).

Once the revision results have been communicated, symposium Chairs will be requested to upload the final Word document, including the names and affiliations of all authors and co-authors

The workshops involve active participation through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and/or experiential learning.

Research workshops can include, but are not limited to, research methods, ethics in research, theory or measurement development, grant writing and mentoring in scientific writing.

Applied workshops offer opportunities for practitioners to share their professional practice strategies. Evidence-based practice workshops will be given priority.

In order for your research or applied workshop submission to be accepted please make sure to include the following information: clearly stated learning objectives for participants; specifics on the (interactive, hands-on) teaching methods and techniques used to achieve these learning objectives.

Details on materials that will be shared with the workshop participants on-site or following the session.

Abstracts submitted without this specific information relevant to an interactive learning experience are likely to be rejected or they might be re-assigned to a poster format.

The Science Slam is a unique form of oral presentation designed to engage a broad audience. It combines humor and creativity with scientific rigor, showcasing original and up-to-date research in an entertaining way. Participants may present their work using humorous storytelling, props, music, dance, or other creative elements.

We warmly welcome submissions from researchers, and applied practitioners as we fully recognize that applied practitioners also work in an evidence-based manner.

Applicants are asked to upload a short video (mp4 format, max. 2.5 minutes) via Conftool in which they present themselves as well as the core content of their proposed Science Slam contribution. The jury will review all submitted videos and evaluate them based on clarity, creativity, scientific relevance, and overall presentation quality. Based on these evaluations, the jury will select up to five finalists who will present their work during the Congress.

The Science Slam awards comprise €500 for first place, €300 for second place, and €200 for third place.

The submission deadline is 31 March 2026. Feedback regarding acceptance will be provided by the end of April.

Additionally, the former FEPSAC Science Slam winner, Prof. Dr. Franzi Lautenbach, and former Science Slam host and moderator, Prof. Dr. Dennis Dreiskämper, will offer coaching for presenters upon request.

FEPSAC invites early-career researchers in sport and exercise psychology to submit their scientific or evidence-based work for consideration. Awards will be presented in two categories:
